If you have digital comics or manga in CBZ, CBR, CB7, or PDF format, you can't open them directly on a Kindle. Simply converting them to PDF often results in small pages with wasted white margins. To read comics comfortably on your Kindle, you need to prepare each page for your specific device.
Comics aren't converted into text—they're formatted so each page fits your Kindle screen. Here’s what usually needs to be done:
| Model | Resolution (pixels) |
|---|---|
| Kindle Basic (2022+) | 1072 × 1448 |
| Kindle Paperwhite (2015–2020) | 1072 × 1448 |
| Kindle Paperwhite (2021+) | 1236 × 1648 |
| Kindle Oasis | 1264 × 1680 |
| Kindle Colorsoft (color) | 1264 × 1680 |
| Kindle Scribe | 1860 × 2480 |
Not sure which Kindle you have? On your device: Settings → Device Options → Device Info.
With Legible: Drag and drop your CBZ, CBR, CB7, or comic PDF, pick your Kindle model, and select if it's manga or if you want color for Colorsoft. Preview the book page by page before downloading. Legible produces an AZW3 file for cable transfer.
With Kindle Comic Converter (KCC): This is a free, open-source desktop program. If you want to fine-tune details or convert large collections, KCC is an option. Learn more at github.com/ciromattia/kcc.
