You can send an EPUB file to your Kindle by email using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. Just attach the EPUB to an email and send it to your device’s @kindle.com address. The book will show up in your library with reflowable text and its table of contents, ready for you to read or highlight.
Amazon’s Send to Kindle is a free service that delivers files to your Kindle over the internet. Each Kindle has its own @kindle.com address (you’ll find it in your Amazon account under Content and Devices → Devices, by selecting your Kindle). To use it:
Your book appears on your Kindle and in the Kindle app for your account, as long as you have Wi-Fi.
When you send an EPUB with Send to Kindle, Amazon converts it so the text is reflowable: you can increase the font size. If the EPUB has a table of contents, it will arrive on your Kindle, and you can use the "Go to" menu to jump between chapters.
This is different from sending a PDF, which displays as a fixed page and doesn’t let you change the font size. If your EPUB is well-formatted, reading it on Kindle feels a lot like reading a book bought from Amazon. For more on the differences, see PDF to Kindle: Which Format to Use and How to Read Your Books Better.
To make sure your book displays well on Kindle, check that your EPUB file has:
If your EPUB is missing a table of contents or you’re not happy with how it looks, you can convert your PDF or notes to EPUB using Legible. Legible lets you review and edit the table of contents before downloading, so you can send a well-prepared EPUB to your Kindle by email.
For more about Send to Kindle, see the guide Send to Kindle with PDF: What “convert” Really Does and When to Use It.
The file must be under 200 MB and you need to send it from an email address approved in your Amazon account. If the book doesn’t appear, check your email: Amazon will notify you if there was a conversion problem or if the file couldn’t be delivered.
Remember, Kindle doesn’t open EPUB files by cable—only through Send to Kindle. If you want to transfer a book by cable, you’ll need to convert it to AZW3. You can do this with Legible or with programs like Calibre (calibre-ebook.com).
Sending an EPUB to your Kindle by email is simple: attach the file and send it to your @kindle.com address from an approved email. The book arrives converted, with reflowable text and its table of contents, ready to read. To prepare your file, make sure it has a table of contents and metadata, and consider using Legible to convert notes or PDFs to EPUB before sending.
