If you want to send a PDF to your Kindle directly from your phone and read it with reflowable text (so you don’t have to zoom in on every page), there are easy ways to do it without installing any apps. Here’s how to convert a PDF and send it to your Kindle from your mobile device, using free tools in English.
When you send a PDF to your Kindle (either by cable or using Send to Kindle), it appears as a fixed page: the entire page is shrunk to fit. The text can be too small and uncomfortable to read, especially if the PDF is A4 or has two columns. To make reading easier and be able to adjust the font size, it’s best to convert the PDF to a Kindle-friendly format with reflowable text (AZW3 or EPUB).
One practical option is to use Legible, a web-based converter. It works right in your phone’s browser (or on your computer), no installation required. Just drop your PDF onto the page or select it from your device, and the app turns it into a Kindle book with reflowable text—so you can adjust the font size and the text will fill the screen.
Legible offers two options when you’re done:
Send to Kindle accepts EPUB and automatically converts it to Kindle format. The book arrives with its table of contents, so you can use the "Go to" menu to jump between chapters.
If your PDF has graphics, formulas, or complex tables, those elements are preserved as clear images in their original place.
Send to Kindle (by Amazon) can try to convert PDFs to reflowable text if you put "convert" in the email subject, but it often loses headings, mixes up columns, and doesn’t recognize scanned PDFs or do OCR. If you just need to send a basic PDF, you can try it. For more details, see Send to Kindle with PDF: What “convert” Really Does and When to Use It.
For managing your library or converting other formats (like EPUB to AZW3), Calibre is a useful tool, but it doesn’t have a web or mobile version—you’ll need to install it on your computer. Read more in Why Calibre Cuts Up Lines When Converting PDF to Kindle.
Legible also converts comics in PDF, CBZ, CBR, or ZIP formats. It trims margins, splits double pages, and supports manga reading order. For details, see How to Read Comics and Manga on Kindle (CBZ and CBR).
This way, you can read your PDFs on Kindle with reflowable text—no apps to install on your phone. For details on each Kindle model, check out the specific guides on our blog.
